Replace engine with Jasper, S&J, or Powertrain Products?

I should do this as a poll, but I like the back and forth discussion. And I'm not really sure myself, but I am leaning toward Powertrain Products, although S&J is a close second. Jasper is good,...

Losing coolant, can't figure out where

I have a 4.7 with 112k. I've been mentally preparing myself for the day when new head gaskets would be needed, but I've been lucky so far.

I'm not having any problems with the truck, but about...

Hello, Buzzvoodoo. Welcome to the club. I remember when I first saw this a few years ago on my own 4.7. I nearly freaked out thinking I was about to blow a head gasket or something.

But no...

Mine is 2wd so none of this may apply to you, but I had to file down a couple of the bolt housing shoulders on my replacement rack because they were rubbing a frame cross-member.

I also had to...

I've always run 89 in my 2002 4.7. Its 10 years old and has 108k and gets 13 mpg (50/50 city/hwy). Not sure if the 89 helps its just what I've always used. I pretty much keep my truck stock and...

5w or 10w

Yes, Sean makes a very good point. I have the 4.7 'mystery tapping' noise so I use the 5w assuming it will get to the top faster. But this may not even be needed. And the 10w is thicker to help...

I would think that if you heated it enough that it stalled out, then it may be that the heads are in some danger of being warped. I overheated mine once but I got lucky. I think its just a matter...
