It shouldn't be expensive. They put a special cap on the gas tank and inject smoke. It will pinpoint leaks in the tank, the tank filler lines, and the smog and overflow hoses.

Assuming your harness is ok, I have found that sometimes the plug from the harness to the switch gets corroded. Unplug it and clean all the pins and sockets and try it agian. Goo dluck.

Mine popped when I had 95k. Caused by an overheating episode. Do NOT Let this motor overheat, it will almost guarentee a head gasket failure. I chose to put a long block refurb in it.

That's the infamous Dodge "Death Wobble". I'm sure someone will chime in on how to fix it. I think they change strut arms or bushings. Try a search and you'll get something.

Remove all the door/ window switches and clean the contact areas. A little corrosion or a loose connection can cause the problem. You should be able to do this without removing the door panels.

My 03 4.7 2WD did the same thing. Turned out to the the Throttle Position Sensor was bad. Replaced that and it shifts fine now.

Wen my 4.7 had a random misfire that would come and go it threw the p0300 code. Turns out it was my upstream O2 sensors. When they go bad they send a bad signal to the PCM which gets the fueling...

If i were you I'd hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to make sure you don't have a pressure problem. Especially when you are hearing ticking sounds. Cheap insurance from catastrophe.

First thing is to look at the exhaust manifold for broken bolts. I'm not sure about your generation of 4.7 but the earlier ones were notorious for breaking them.
