Did you leave the rear resonator in place. I'm going to order a Gibson soon, just not sure on the resonator yet, but hte sound you describe is what I'm looking for.

It is screwed on, but from the inside...not accessable without removing aluminum bracket and everything mounted to it from undere the dash.....no way....not for lights anyway :)

The second pic is the same spot on the inside of the firewall. There's a thin layer of backing foam, but when you scratch a little away, it's the same grey plastic material that's on the other side...

I'm installing 5" Eagle eye fogs behind the grill and do not want to thread wires through existing harness boots on the fire wall, because they are extremely packed, and do not want to risk nicking...
