Smile Purpose of Spark Plug Shield?

There is a metal tube around the spark plugs on my 5.9L. It must be a shield for some reason. What's it for??

What broke? Mine has a 1/8 inch steel cable. They should' a used a chain. I plan to run my cable out and give it an oil coat to slow the rust. Or maybe use some POR 15 rust proofing on it.

How do I do a complete coolant drain? My owners manuel sez "open radiator petcock and also remove drain plugs in the block". Drain plugs? Do they mean the Frost plugs? No way am I about to punch out...

Hello all,
Just bought a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 with only 69,000 miles on it. Cleaned up it looks near new. NO RUST and was owned by a 90 year old man. How lucky can A guy get.
