Thanks for your message. I am not sure if I will go this route as the guy wants too much $ for the miles on the engine he is selling....plus I cannot hear it run.

OMG that is so helpful and makes total sense. The engine does not seem to have a blow by condition so I have been very puzzled why it uses such a huge amount of oil. Thanks for your input.

What years of engine/trans will fit my 98

I am trying to find a good used engine/trans for my 98 ram 1500 4x4. The stock engine is a 5.9L. Can anyone tell me what range of years I can swap without huge hassles?

The guy figures the pump is shot and they found lots of metal debris in the bottom of the pan and stuck to the magnet. Bottom line....tranny is done

I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.9L auto 4x4. Not too long ago I buried the thing in a bad ass mudhole and the tranny filled with mud water. I had it rebuilt and the tranny has been fine ever...
