i believe you are correct. I have read that some of the quad chips have the high idle feature, and I would bet that is what is malfunctioning. pull the main fuse to it and see if it happens again.

use the key trick and pull codes, likely either tps or vp. tps can be reset and that could be the fix, or could be a dead pedal issue caused by the vp going bad.
