After spending 11 years as a GM Technician in the 1980's and 90's I can report that GM considered consumption of 1 qt or less in 1,000 miles to be normal (500 miles in the case of a 502 crate Motor)....

Tow Haul

When I'm running the steeper mountains of eastern Ky. I have used tow/haul to reduce the amount of shifting. Is more relaxing? and does not seem to negatively affect the fuel consumption. :smileup:

FWIW I think 4x4 is very useful when moving trailers around a sloppy barnyard, plus the deep reduction gearing of 4 low makes it easier to back up and is less stressful on your transmission. And you...
