I don't know how much difference there is between the 5.2 and the 5.9 heater core wise but i just replaced the core on my 99 1500 4wd 5.2 and it took about 8 hrs, in a heated garage, with air tools...

Yes all of a sudden nothing works, the back lighting for the controls is there but the switches/knobs do nothing. Like somebody pulled the plug

I have found that on my 99 1500 5.2 when i switch into 4wd hi it seems to be easier when the truck is off. I've only used 4wd hi a couple of times though. Taking it out of 4wd hi to low, in neutral...

My 99 1500 4wd 5.2 has a speedo gremlin, it doesnt work below 45 mph, from there on up its fine, i get into it and find anything out i'll let you know

I just replaced the heater core on my 99 5.2 1500...

I just replaced the heater core on my 99 5.2 1500 4wd. I didnt take the steering column out just lowered down and the dash had to come out because the heater box had to come loose from the fire wall....
