Just traded in my 2009 F150 Supercab Lariat 5.4L for a 2011 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab. The Ford was definitely better on gas. I averaged 15.5-16mpg in town and 21-22mpg on the highway with cruise usually set at 73mph. My Ram with 3.55 gears is seeing 13mpg in town (very light footed driving, much less than ford) while I am now seeing 19mpg on the interstate with the Ram, but cruise set on 67. Apples to apples, the Ford would have seen 22-23 with cruise set at 67mph. The additional 6th gear on the Ford really made the difference, however I didn't care for the way it would search for gears sometimes....
