If you are in the market for aftermarket tires, ask to look at all 4 before they mount them. I look inside the tires for heavy splices, anything over 10mm is crap. I push down on the tires and roll them while looking inside the tire. The steel belts are usually around a 60 degree bias, so if you see a raised area at a long angle that is the steel belt splice. Anything more than 3mm is a crap tire. If you see any humps/bumps, anything that looks like it would be felt or heard once mounted and going down the road, ask them to bring another tire. once they mount and inflate the tires, if you see a big indention in the sidewall, it's no good either. Make them replace it. I have built tires for a living for longer than I care for, but this method has saved me a lot of frustration.
