Might need to do a bit more then 2 inch... Billstein 5100 adjustables are sopose to be real good for leveling kits.. max out at I beleive 2.8".

Also for mods... I have an S&B CAI and a flowmaster super 44 muffler on stock pipes.. and absolutely love it.. and have actually noticed an improvement in my mpg.
he can't use bilsteins because like your buddy he has torsion bars. and the settings for 3rd gen bilsteins are different from 4th gen. I think the highest 3rd gens go are 2.2" and only have 3? maybe 4 settings. 4thgens have a max of 2.8 and 5 settings
