I've only seen this happen one other time in the last 5 years and it was on a vehicle with power windows. IMO, trying to repair it would be more trouble than it's worth. While you've got it apart, this would be a good time to lube the window channels. I recommend a colorless spray in grease or a dielectric grease that can be applied with a brush.
