180 is not good for trucks, we ran in to theses when guys would come in the shop with their "rigs" and they thought that their "CAT" was running to hot, we would told by "CAT" that running at 180 would not be good for the motor over time due to not reaching " Efficient operating temp"

A thermostat sets the minimum operating temp - not the norm.......
The heat removed is a matter of the output of the engine, what the radiator and rest of the system can remove. So actual operating temp will depend more on the abilities of the cooling system (rad, fan, etc.) and what the engine puts out and not really on the stat.

But Airdog,

There are V-8 out there with no fan belt- That only use Electric Fans (But not on Trucks!)

the 06 and Up FORD Crown Vic, Mustang

With a truck, i would not just trust a electric fan!!!

Think about, On Big Rigs if the electric fan would work don't you think they would put it on them, to save on Fuel, Belts, Noise and Horsepower ????

Just my thought, i am not there to hurt anyone's feeling
