offset is how far the face of the wheel sits either inside or outside of the rim. To make it simple take the letter "I" you could say the offset would be zero as the vertical line is directly in the middle of the horizontal lines. If the vertical moves left or right you end up with pos/neg offset. The easiest way to figure it out is to go to a wheel site ie: tire rack or discount tires and put you truck in. They will give you your stock offset and show you what wheels fit to give you an idea.
