How hard you get on the gas from a stop, how long you're on the gas before you stop (hard stops) tire inflation all play apart in sucking the mileage out of your tank. Check EGR and PCV modules and make sure they are clean. Make sure the IAT/MAP sensor(s) are clean. Run some gas treatment/injector cleaner through it. Make sure your intake is clean. All these little things add up to 3 or 4 mpg either way.
