The oil pump shaft may be keeping you from getting an exact alignment.

I'd pull the cap and get everything lined back up where it needs to go. Make a note of where the rotor is facing (if it's one tooth before or after where TDC should be). Pull the dist and move the pump shaft with a screwdriver and re-set the dist to see if it's at the optimum spot it should be (where #1 is on the cap with the engine at TDC).
