I had a 1500 with 3.55s. It was OK when I lived in Illinois but as soon as I moved to Colorado it was a dog. Going up mountains to parks and such it would be shifting all over the place. Test drove a few 1500s with 3.92 gears and found that the gearing is so much nicer! The trucks feel mighty fast too. With 3.92 gears on these 1500s it felt like I was driving a big ol' sports car

I ended up buying a 2500 Hemi with 3.73 gears. Very happy with my choice as I am getting 12-14 in town (depending on how many traffic lights I sit at) and 17-20 on the highway. With cruise control on at 45 mph on flat ground it will shift into 6th and run at 1200 rpm. Fuel economy gauge shows 25+ on the current mpg line. Of course and slight hill will kill that but it's still cool to watch.

Get the 3.92s. You'll be wishing you had them at some point if you get the 3.55. I wouldn't go anything lower than the 3.73 that I have now (yes I know that's not available for 1500s)
