I think Suncoast's hoods are inconsistent. At least that's what I've seen from GM's F-Body cars. I don't see how you would need lower PSI pistons, unless it's really that difficult to open/close the hood. Just put some weight into it.
If I understand correctly, the lighter weight fiberglass hood has trouble holding it's shape when working against the heavier pistons. The heat of the sun and engine bay allow a little give in the hood which shows up as a bump on the top side.
