Default Transmission temp gauge help.

Ok I put a T fixture on my outlet line of my tranny. I used 3/8ths compression fittings to clamps down the ends of where I cut into the line and then I have a 3/8th to 1/8th reducer on the end that sticks up for my sender. Its been JB welded so I have a warm and fuzzy that it wont leak. Ive got it all wired up and ive got power and Im getting a temp reading of 68 on gauge but it doesn't move from there. I have the sender grounded to the O2 sensor of the cat. Is that causing interference and not reading a temp or is it just a bad sender? Thanks in advance for the help.
