Default Flat bed on a 2500 Ram Q Diesel

Well, here's my question. I will have a bid in July on a 2500 Ram diesel 2001.
The bed is toast from a utility pole crush. I've located a 2001 bed (white) that a friend has for this standard quad cab 2500 (no dents) for $500. I may flip this one or might keep it (low miles at 97k).

I'm thinking of a flat bed if it's a keeper. Has anyone done a flat bed on a 2500 (steel). I'm thinking used or fabricate one. I'm looking for ideas (including cost) and feasibility of this project. I have an artificial leg above the knee (reason). I would also think about tool box set ups lowered as side mounts. I'm 6'2 and this would be perfect.

My Ram diesel has a regular bed and Tractor supply tool box (it's fine as long as the wife comes along). I have a double axel pull behind and access to a goose neck trailer.
Thoughts would be much appreciated................ Richmond
