Default Fuel Pump Stop Working

So Sunday I was driving to the store and my truck just stopped. I had it towed to my friends shop. He looked at it and said it was the fuel pump. i was like how could it be the fuel pump with 60,000 miles. I have never heard anyone lossing one that fast. He told me it was going to be around $800 to fix everything. He said that isn't right and to call dodge to see if they could help me out with the bill.
I called up Dodge and told them my story and they said to have it towed to a dodge dealer so they can really said whats wrong with my truck. Well, I finally get a called back from the dealer today and yes it was the fuel pump. The dealer told me to call the number and talk to dodge again, so I did and they told me since I was out of coverage they are not going to help me out. I was pissed but I need my truck fix. the dealer gave me a break on the part so its only going to cost me around $500. my truck cost was around $52K and spending that type of money I would think they could help out a little and plus they said i should of bought a extra warranty but that would of went to 60K miles so I would of been screwed either way. I also noted that I was looking to buy 2500 or 3500 once my truck was paied off but they said nothing about that. I'm just piss
