You have a 318, which is a great motor, but it was not built to be a hot rod. If you really like your truck, you might be able to repower with a 440. Cheaper in the long run to buy a newer hemi Ram,however. I've got a friend with a 1956 Ram with a junkyard 413 that really hauls ass. He claims it gets over 20 mpg as well. His truck runs low 7's in the eighth mile, btw. I'm sure he didn't spend a lot. Of course a 1956 Ram is pretty light. I doubt too many ricers get past his old Ram.
