Okay, just random questions here. Because I have the same engine, with 112,000 miles on it (but it is a 2002) I am trying to head off problems before they happen. So far I have been extremely lucky as my 4.7 has not needed any major work to this point.

If I understand correctly, RichardsonMedia, the fan clutch that you bought from AutoZone was bad. And this eventually led to the overheating, which led to you having to buy a reman engine? Ouch. I've had so many problems with after-market parts (nothing major, just bad fit, going bad to soon etc, etc) from the auto parts stores.

If the fan clutch you originally bought had been working properly then this would have avoided the whole mess. Holy crud. I don't know, again just random thoughts here, but I know that dealers charge enough to nearly bankrupt me, but is it worth it?
