you may have a vapor lock in the heater core. did you let it run with the rad cap off until the thermostat opened? you will see when the t-stat opens the coolant level will drop in the rad as it pulls coolant into the block. if you have a vapor lock in the heater core you will have no heat inside the truck. if that is the case and running it with the rad cap off don't cure it take off the top heater hose (after the engine cools down) and use a funnel and pour coolant into the heater hosewhen it starts coming out of the engine where the heater goes on that you pulled off starts pushing out coolant put the hose back on and run it with the rad cap off again to push out any remaining air.
