Default What happened after I redid the head gaskets on my 4.7 part 2

It went pretty easily, the engine didn't fight me much during disassembly or reassembly, the only tough part was putting the exhaust manifolds back on - it was easier than unbolting the joints and leaving the manifolds on the heads, but being all bent over and reaching back there to get those bolts in and started, and being 57 years old to boot, well, it got old after the first manifold. But, got it done.

Estimates from 3 shops were $1500, $1600, and $1600-2000 to do just the gaskets - no new timing chains, water pumps, thermostats, caps, fans, clutches, nothing but the gaskets and head bolts - I did it all for $1012 including $280 for the machine shop work, took about 14 hours to complete but that also included installing the timing set and me being really careful and going slow to make sure I didn't screw it up. Put a whole bunch of new parts in it so I don't expect to see any overheating problems and I know I won't have to go back in for guides/chains/tensioners any time soon.
