From a towing standpoint I think you are right, 500ftlbs for towing is allot of stress on the other components unless they just choose to underrate the towing, but for dumb-assing around it would be a good time. I would rather have too much engine than not enough, well, that is my philosophy anyway.
It probably won't be rates to tow any more than a gas truck... Reason is simple... Outside of the engine and trans, there's to many other parts that prevent it.. Suspension, frame, those dang P tires, axles ... on and on....
I think this setup will be for MPG and FUN!!! Not really for work because then you'd need to go HD in all your parts....
