I think LSD is very important especially in mud or any loose substrate. I've noticed a big difference in my Ram w/o it. I'm going to step up to a more aggressive tire this fall. The stock Goodyear Wranglers are useless off road, in the snow or ice. I bad when a Mercedes could pass me on a snowy/icy night last winter when being in a full size truck with 4x4 and LSD made you king of the hill. I kick myself for not getting it. I assumed (yes Ass) it came with the truck. Who would build a full size 4x4 with a 5.7 Hemi and not put LSD in it? I learned a hard lesson.
PS to those non believers, my old Ford 150 would easily transverse a course we used to have. I wouldn't even attempt it in this truck. Traction is bad and yes it's partially the tires but I have little confidence in this truck off road in it's stock configuration.
