If you are hauling/towing 500-1000lb you should not use performance tunes. Especially with thee 2500 since it's already heavier. But what you can do instead of switching to the tow tune is use 87 octane with 87 perf tune and then when you tow/haul switch to 89 or 91 octane on the same 87 perf tune. Higher octane provides more resistance to detonation.
