I saw the same story and have mixed feelings about it, perhaps because I do not know all the facts, but Carfax does have disclaimers on their reports. It also has been pretty clear, at least to me, Carfax reports are generated from police reports and insurance claims and it is quite possible for vehicle owners to circumvent both. I have always used Carfax as a tool and guide, relying mostly on my own and a pro's inspection. It seems dealerships have the most to benefit by a suit against Carfax, and there are many bad apples there.
