From Street Scene's website... using 2008 Dodge Ram
Chrome Grille Shell with Chrome Speed Grille

Replace your worn out or broken factory style grille with a Street Scene Equipment Chrome factory style Grille Shell and a Chrome Speed Grille Already installed. This part number is for a complete Chrome Grille Shell with a Chrome Speed Grille installed in the shell for the 2006-2008 Dodge Ram.

SO where does it say the grill shell is aluminum?

Shopped around and Summit racing had them for $350.00 with free shipping. Ordered it and took 3 weeks because they are drop shipped from manufacturer. Opened the box and it is a plastic shell and had the emblem provision. Called Summit and they called the manufacturer and said were NEVER made out of aluminum but shouldn't have the emblem provision. I agreed to take one but wanted it smooth. They paid the shipping and said they'd ship another one. I asked if they would double check to make sure it was smooth and Summit said the manufacturer knew of the problem and they would.

A little over a week later I get another grille. It is the SAME version I had before, misboxed just like the first one. Called Summit back and said I'm done and wanted a refund. They did it and picked it up again. Nothing against Summit, they were in the middle.
Where does it say aluminum grill shell on this page?

Called Auto Parts Warehouse and worked my way to their "Ask a parts specialist" . Asked is they had them is stock and he said yes. I told him that they have been misboxed from the factory and if he would check the one he had to see if it was smooth and if it was aluminum like their listing says. He said yes and put me on hold. Came back on 15 minutes later and said it was smooth but it was plastic. I said I'd take it but they might want to change their description in regards to the aluminum grille shell. he said they would. Got the grille and it too was drop shipped from manufacturer in an UNOPENED box and was wrong again.
I'd feel safe to say... the 15 minute wait was for someone to call Street Scene.... and failed to ask the correct question. Poor customer service, but that's what most of these online places do. The prices are cheaper, because they DO NOT stock parts and use drop ship.

Now they have wasted $230.00 in shipping sending 3 grilles from California to Ohio because they won't check their product. Auto Parts Warehouse says they won't ship another because it might be the same thing which is understandable. What's NOT right is why their "specialist straight up lied to me and now they want me to deliver it to a FedEx hub for return. I told her they are going to pick it up at me residence as it's a 20 minute drive to the nearest hub. She said they make arrangements later but they haven't called back. They also said the manufacturer wasn't sure the grille would fit since it's a 5500. Auto parts warehouse's listing says it does. They still haven't changed the description either.

Aren't all 2008 Ram grills the same between the 1500, 2500, 3500 4500, 5500? Anyone have a good source with a reasonable price? The factory one seems to have an issue so I'm not impressed with spending over $500.00 for the same problem. I just want a chrome grille!!!

I would say Auto Parts Warehouse is the AT FAULT party, as they do list the grill shell as aluminum.

I will add, you can bet the aftermarket is not going to use aluminum to build something like that grille shell if the manufacturer doesn't. The price would be way more than $375.

I ran a brick and mortar accessory shop and had to overcome the internet promises, and prices. The only way to do so is to provide high quality customer service and KNOW your product lines.

I'm afraid you will not find an aluminum shell that has been chrome plated, and would suggest keeping the one they shipped you. It should fit and will last until the chrome gets rock chipped, or starts releasing from the plastic, just as your factory one has done. It's likely not going to happen within a few months, but it depend on the conditions you expose it to. Sorry there isn't a better answer....
