Same thing happended to my last burb. Seagull left a huge dropping on the rear quarter at the airport while I was on business. It was 6" long down the side above the rear wheel and 1" wide. Got back, washed it and it was permanent. Tried everything but it was fully etched down to the base coat. That stuff is like acid!

The first weekend with my new Ram I waxed it. I will give it a second coat next weekend. Supposedly, this will create a barrier against it. I used good old NuFinish. The paint was smooth as glass and slippery after applying the first coat.

Unfortunatley learned about Opticoat after doing this, so I am going to stay with Nufinish. Just don't get it on black plastic. Its a pain to get off.

Good luck, I think any good wax will help prevent further issues.
