Default Cold Weather shifting issues

To start off I have a 2012 ram 1500, truck runs fine when its warm out and a bit chilly out but when it gets to be around -30 to -50 the truck does not shift properly. It will shift eventually but driving around town doing 60km/h my truck is reving at around 2300 rpm. It's starting to get hard on gas lol I read the other topic of buddies truck stuck in 4th, mine has no burning smell and it only does it when its cold so I'm lost. Would the tranny fluid be that thick that its causing shifting issues? Please help me
