There shouldn't be any reason why you can't do several things to your truck to tow that trailer . Don't have anything against buying a diesel but your not pulling an enclosed trailer with a race car and fully loaded with the essentials for a weekend excursion . I would say do the necessary things , cold air intake , set of headers , Superchips programmer , maybe a gear change . A nice set of 4.10s would help you out dramatically . You probably have 3.55's now (?) .
I agree with Tom, your not towing a horse trailer and the mods mentioned would certainly help to some degree. Really depends how much your lookin to spend. But then again you asked what LITTLE things you could do, and as far as my wallet is concerned not much of what Tom suggested is little, thats just me though. It might very well be worth it to you to invest in those things rather than go out and buy a different truck. What gears do you have now?
