This was my first axle rebuild and i had to do it out in the driveway in the cold of winter.
I was hoping the contact pattern was ok, i'd rather shoot myself than tear it all back down especially when i have no way of taking the pinion bearing back off...but then again i dont want to ruin brand new gears.
After final assembly the backlash was sitting at .007
You do not need to paint the gears all the way around like mentioned above. It looks good. If your depth patern looks that good and you have .007 back lash. You need to put the cover on it and fill it up with a nice synthetic fluid. Wont get much better than that. Yes it does suck when you have to pull the pinion bearing back off to change the pinion depth shim. You are good with what you got and you should pat yourself on the back....Do your self a favor and replace the speed sensor in the housing while you are back there. They are not much at all....and its only one bolt.....
