Default Bully tailgate lock install query.

So installing a bully trunk lock.
If you look at the instructions it shows a protector plate. Now in the image the area for the protector plate is an 'outtie' and that plate stops people forcing the tailgate open.


If you look at the pics of my tailgate, that area is actually an innie and the same as having the protector plate, and if you look where I'm holding that protector plate it will just sit against the area of the bed that is already there.

So, really, it seems to me it will serve no purpose and I don't need to install that plate.
Would you guys agree? Or do you think I should install the plate?
