Default Will be Replacing Shocks - What to Watch For?

Hi all -

Will be replacing the front and back shocks on my '05 4X4 quad cab. Looks pretty straight forward and had done the same on my Dakota. But just wanted to see if there are any "gotcha's" I should watch for? Plan to soak the shock nuts with PB over night so that should help.

One question that may be a stupid one - but in looking at other threads in the forum I see mention of compressing springs, pictures with shock towers and springs but I'll be darned if I can find any coil springs on the front of my truck. The front shocks seem rather small to me and at a very severe angle - lie 45 degrees off center - sort of between 1 and 2 o'clock if straight up is 12 o'clock. So my question - am I missing the coil spring somewhere?

As always, TIA.
