Default Hum when hill climbing.

I've recently noticed a slight hum when running uphill on the highway. It seems to happen only is the grade is enough (or the uphill is long enough) that I start to lose speed. I'll drop about 1mph and then I can hear a quite hum sort of like I'm running on rumble strips on the edge of the highway but barely audable. The hum will suddenly dissapear when I crest the hill. The funny thing though is that there is no change in RPM or indication that the trany is downshifting.

What is up with that?

I think I can hear it now only because of the new intake. It doesn't make the engine sound much different at highway speed really, but I seem to be able to pick out this sound now whereas before it was too muffled.
