Lightbulb Uconnect Tips and iPod Tips

I see questions about Uconnect and it not working with various phones and accessories. So, I thought I'd offer up some tips.

1. If your Uconnect has been working just fine with your phone and all of a sudden does not, try using your phone with a different bluetooth device. There is a good possibility your phone needs a software update. Not all updates can be done over the phone and you might have to take the phone to the store to have it done. (you don't want to know how I learned this one. )

2. If you have just purchased your vehicle and are trying to hook up your phone with Uconnect, here's where to find the answers. https://www.dodge.com/hostb/crossbrand/owners/en/

3. If you are planning to buy a new phone and want to know if its compatible with Uconnect (always a good idea to know before you buy) use the same link from 2 above. Chrysler updates the list of compatible phones in Dec. Why they don't do it more often is unknown and they won't answer the question. (I tried to get an answer) They also will not give you the number or name of the vendor that makes Uconnect and does the evaluations. Once the new list comes out Chrysler will send out an update to be flashed into vehicles with existing Uconnect systems. There is no way of knowing what phones will be added to the upcoming list. But a good rule of thumb from viewing the list is they will nab the "popular" phones like iPhone and Blackberry to name a few.

4. Some phones not on the list of compatible phones work, make and receive calls, through Uconnect but do not have "full" (automatically download the phone book, etc) functionality. (My phone is one of these.) If your phone can make and receive calls, you can put in an entry/name and phone number you want the Uconnect to dial for you. As for Caller-ID if you get more than a phone number consider yourself lucky.

Hopefully, this helps with some of the issues/concerns about Uconnect. Personally, I don't plan to get a new phone just so it works better with my truck. But I also don't make and receive that many calls. Those who NEED it, it is completely understandable you not being happy and I wish I had better advice/info for you.

For iPod users, the link I provided also gives info on using them. The only thing I've done with my iPod is download all the music from it to my radio's HDD. So I have no first hand experience with other issues. Perhaps some folks who use their iPods with the radios will pipe in with some advice/tips.
