That's a good start ^^^^ but just as a rule of thumb, WD-40 and rubber products don't get along too well. I am NOT a mechanic, but I have fought with, and I agree with your description, god awful squeak. Try another belt as Tom recommended and see if that doesn't help, just make sure you have the correct amount of tension. In my case, I had replaced the P/S pump/pulley, idler pulley, water pump, crankshaft pulley (these were wear and tear items, I wasn't just throwing parts at my car as it was over 15 years old at the time lol) and even another belt still to no avail. Come to find out, I didn't get my P/S pulley seated back as far as it should have been, wasn't off but by a hair lol, but putting a laser light on it revealed the problem, adjusted it and no more squeak! Having a mechanic's stethoscope is also handy in isolating the noise, too. Good luck!
