you can get defrost to work, but you will have no heat at the floor. You can look from the drivers side up through the vent and you will see that the door is stuck in the up position. You should be able to stick a long screwdriver or coat hanger up in there and usually just poke it until it falls into the down position. It worked on my 2003..I eventually fixed mine by replacing the doors by removing the dash. Took about 8 hours total.
