i don't know the answer, but, i remember reading about some radios locking up like that

MyGIG software update 9.807 (Mopar p/n 68056387AA)

The recent software update for MyGIG radios (Models RER, REN and REW), version 9.807, is now available under warranty at Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers. Customers who are having any of the issues below, and who have an earlier software version than 9.807, can go to their dealer to have the update installed at no charge. If your dealer is not familiar with this update, have them reference RRT #08-076. The 9.807 disc is Mopar p/n 68056387AA
