Default Dodge 1500 not good for towing as advertised.

I have a 2010 Ram 1500 Hemi and blew the tranny towing 6000 lbs. The truck only has 9k on it when it went three weeks ago. They rebuilt the tranny and I had to wait for parts from Detroit. The mechanic and salesman both said if I keep towing with it,its not going to last. But my argument is that Dodge advertises it can haul up to 10,450lbs. and I was only doing 6k...4k under maximum. So I requested them to get me out of the 1500 Hemi and into a Cummins 6.7 and they agree but I have to cough up $$$..is this right?? The trailer btw is a 20 foot enclosed with scaffolding inside of it. I weighed it 3 times and the numbers don't lie...it was 6k.
