The economy meters are notorious for being inaccurate. If your tires are larger than stock and it's not calibrated, you will be off, speedometer as well. Occasionally, the gauge will be close to your hand calculated mileage oft times, it can vary from 3-7 mpg. Useless...really only thing it is good for is resetting it and seeing how you can get it. I once got it to 43 MPG downhill!
