Simple - we're all employees. Perhaps the insurance regs are a bit different in Canada versus the US. Aside from that, customer tend to get in the way and I don't think anyone, regardless of their occupation, cares for having someone over their shoulder when they work. When a customer stands over your shoulder, they inevitably start asking questions and this is a huge distraction (especially when we're doing warranty work which doesn't pay worth a damn). Personally, if a customer doesn't trust me, then I'd just as soon pass the work off to someone else.
