I've spent a fair amount of time reading research articles, and from reading those results I find a few problems. First, it is a summary and doesn't give any information about the techniques used by either the automatic washes or by the ones done by hand. So there is no way to tell what they used at home...A wire brush? Or maybe even a brillow pad? Assuming they used run of the mill materials I could believe those results. But, as everyone here has stated, a good at home technique cannot be that bad. Also, who funded the study, a mainstream car wash company?
