Thank you to all the firefighters and EMTs that descended upon our town to help on May 22, 2011. I saw this remark on CNN and it brought tears to my eyes:
Just over 12 hours after the tornado touched down, city manager Mark Rohr said that between 400 and 500 firefighters, public works personnel and other municipal employees showed up Monday morning, unasked, to help.
While I was untouched, by the grace of God, so many others weren't and you showing up here, unasked and ready to go, means more than you know to these people. I saw all you in your ambulances Sunday night, pouring out of the command center, having come from other states, to be here. I am forever grateful for your unselfish ways and desire to help others in need, putting them first and yourselves second.
