I would use a good durable wax and do one section at a time [Hood, door, fender, etc]. Some waxes don't need to completely dry, but merely haze in order to be removed, so there is not a long wait time. Do the hood, let it haze, and remove completely. It is easier to check your work when you're doing it panel-by-panel.
