Have you thought about taking the wheels down to a local machine shop and having them recess the back of the wheel at the stud hole a few thousandths? It wouldnt be hard, heck you could do it in your garage if you needed too. Just get a 3/4" bit and take the smallest of nibbles off the back of the lug hole, just as if you were counter sinking a screw.
