To get the bezel off just get your fingers under it to start then work your way around. be carefull it could break but its not too tough to get off. I've seen the shadow chrome at Canadian tire.
I started mine with a putty knife as it was pretty tight. There are several holding points under the lip and each are notched with several grooves to hold it in place. A little pressure at each point working around the bezel will release it without worry.
I found 2 coats was plenty after it was cleaned. The first coat had a lot of "orange peel" effect, but the second coat filled in nice and smooth.
