yes it does free up a little horse power. i have not done it to my current truck yet. but i have done it to all my mudd trucks for example i replaced my stock fan with an electric fan on my 350 small block and it freed up a little, i allso did it on a toyota and got a decent improvment and on my brothers f150. but the important thing to realize is that your not going to build HP doing this your only going to free up the HP your motor already puts out. youll feel it in the throttle. it will feel like it responds better...i am going to do this to my truck when i have the extra money...i hope this answers your question
